Baptism

The sacrament of baptism ushers us into the divine life, cleanses us from sin, and initiates us as members of the Christian community. It is the foundation for the sacramental life.

How To Schedule A Baptism

The Rite of Baptism is celebrated at one of the weekend masses – Saturday during or after the 5:00 p.m. Mass or on Sunday during or after the 8:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. mass. Baptisms must be arranged in advance.  Please call the Parish Office at 636-671-3062 to schedule.

After completing the Baptismal Registration Form and submitting it you will receive either an email or phone call confirming the baptismal date and the baptismal preparation meeting date and time (if needed.) Should you not receive a call, please call the Parish Office.

Children 6 & Under

Parents can arrange for baptism of their infants and children under the age of six. Prior to baptism, first-time parents are required to attend a preparation meeting. If a child has been baptized in another Christian tradition, contact the Pastor to determine if a Catholic baptism is required.

Baptismal classes are scheduled monthly on the last Sunday of the month and are presented by one of the deacons. Registration is required to attend a class; please call the Parish office to register. Parents of subsequent children are not required to attend Baptismal Prep meetings again but are welcome to do so.

Parents must be registered parishioners. Contact the Parish Office for extraordinary circumstances.

Children 7 & Older

Parents of children seven years of age or older who have not been baptized or have been baptized in another Christian tradition will meet with the Pastor and possibly the PSR coordinator to determine the best process to baptize the child.

Adults 18+

Adults (including High School) who would like to be baptized should meet with the Pastor by calling the Parish Office.

Requirements Of Chosen Godparents

Godparents must be at least 16 years old. One of the Godparents MUST be Catholic and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation and be registered as an active parishioner at a Catholic Church. A letter from the parish is required prior to the day of baptism.

Please contact office@olqpmo.org with any questions.
