Meeting Schedule for Ministry of Consolation 2024

Great love equates to great grief. When a loved one dies, there is a gaping hole felt in the mourner’s life. Grief does not have an endpoint. It is a journey that has many unexpected turns and valleys. The Ministry of Consolation at Our Lady Queen of Peace hopes to reach out to the bereaved with understanding and support. We strive to provide ways that help integrate loss into our lives, an opportunity to come together to share in God’s love and find healing by supporting each other on our journey. If you are experiencing loss, please prayerfully consider this invitation to join us. Get the support you need by appointment or check the calendar for the schedule.

A GRIEF SHARED

A legend from the East tells of a woman who lost her only child. Overcome with grief, she

pleaded with a prophet to give back her little one. “Go,” he told her, “and bring me a handful of rice

from a house into which death has not entered. Then I will do as you ask.”

Her frantic search led her to many homes, but in each there was always a vacant seat by the

hearth-a visible sign of a family member taken by death. In time, her sympathy and compassion for

others eased her sorrow. Her grief-once all her own-became shared grief.

The perspective of faith tells us that our suffering is never done alone. God “put on” our

humanness, and with it the grief and joys we experience.

In an effort to reach out to those in our community who are experiencing the loss of a loved

one, the Ministry of Consolation at our Lady Queen of Peace will hold 7 consecutive small group meet-

ings beginning in March. If you or any member of your family are mourning the loss of someone you

love, please prayerfully consider this invitation to join us. If you have been a part of our group in the

past and would like to reconnect, you are most welcome to return. For more information contact Linda
